Midrash Mash-Up

Course Description

Our tradition teaches us that the world stands on three things – the Torah, the [Temple] service, and loving acts of kindness. (Pirke Avot 1:2)  Through this course, students will have an opportunity to connect popular music to Jewish text and midrash, history and tradition.  Through working in chevruta, students will compare and contrast a wide variety of (musical) views in the areas of Torah, prayer, tikkun olam and Israel, and ultimately develop their own sense of what their lives are centered around.
